Hi, I’m Elizabeth Shipman. I help neurodivergent children-and the parents raising them- feel seen supported and less alone.

A Little About Me.

I work with kids who are intense, sensitive, or often misunderstood—especially those with ADHD, sensory processing differences, or a PDA profile. I also work with women (especially mothers) who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or invisible in the daily grind. Some are navigating their own neurodivergence. Others are carrying the mental load of caregiving while wondering where their own needs fit in.

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Play Therapist-in-training, I bring both clinical tools and lived experience to my work. I use evidence-based approaches like Adlerian Play Therapy, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), and Collaborative Problem Solving—always through a neurodivergent-affirming lens.

Whether you’re here because your child is struggling, or because you are, you’re in the right place.

Credentials:

  • Licenced Marriage and Family Therapist in Utah

  • Training in play therapy

  • Specilized in ADHD, PDA, Autism, sensory needs, and women’s mental health

Why Kaleidoscope?

Young girl holding a red telescope up to her eye and looking through it.

I named my practice Kaleidoscope Mental Health because I’ve always been drawn to the idea that something doesn’t need to be uniform to be beautiful.

As a therapist, a parent, and a neurodivergent human myself, I’ve seen again and again how people are told they need to be “one way” to belong. But that’s not how real life—or real people—work.

A kaleidoscope holds broken pieces, scattered shapes, shifting light. And when you turn it just a little, you see something completely new. That’s how I view the therapy process. We’re not trying to fix you—we’re working together to shift the view, to notice patterns, to make space for your full, rich, messy self.

I work especially with neurodivergent families, big-feeling kids, and women who are burned out from holding everything together. You’re not too much. You’re not broken. You just deserve a space that sees you clearly.

This practice exists to hold that space.

THE ADULT ROOM

For adult sessions, I provide a calm private setting to talk through what matters to you.

A cozy living room corner featuring a tan leather sofa with colorful pillows and a plush stuffed hippo. Above the sofa hangs a painting of two birds. To the right, a small blue mini fridge with a flower and tissue box on top is lit by a lampshade. Adjacent to the fridge, a bookshelf holds woven baskets, a printer, and a Nintendo Switch. A floral rug covers the floor.
A home office corner with a white desk and a tufted white chair, decorated with a pink Tiffany lamp, a small potted plant, and a desk organizer with papers and pens. To the left, a bookshelf filled with books, baskets, and decor items, including a clock and a printer.

The playroom is set up with toys, art, and sensory tools to help children express themselves in ways that feel natural

THE PLAYROOM

A children's playroom with shelves of toys and art supplies, a colorful play mat on the floor, and a large window with a parking lot view.
A colorful classroom corner with shelves of craft supplies labeled Pastels, Paint Brushes, Clay, Glue, String, and Stencils, a whiteboard with magnetic letters, and a puppet stand with various puppets. Insurance

I am currently an out-of-network provider. Many clients use their Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for payment. I can provide a superbill you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

I will be accepting insurance in the near future, and I’ll update this page as soon as that process is complete.

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept all major credit cards and HSA/FSA cards.

Sliding Scale

I reserve a limited number of sliding-scale spots for families experiencing financial hardship. Please ask about availability if cost is a barrier.
